Brockport resident wins gold in Special Olympic Winter Games

Jacob Booher-Babcock, of Brockport, participated in snowshoeing at the Rochester Community Sports Complex in Rochester on Saturday, February 22, for the Special Olympics New York State Winter Games. He earned gold in the 200M, silver in the 100M, and bronze in the 4x100M Relay with his teammates. Sarah Babcock-Lomonaco, Jacob’s mother, said, “So many life lessons are taught through sport. I’m so grateful for the Special Olympics for all the opportunities that help Jacob grow as an athlete and as an individual.” When asked about his experience, Jacob said, “I am very competitive. I enjoy participating in many sports. I love to compete against others; they bring out my best. I also want to encourage others to do their best.”
