Hilton tops Brockport in boys swimming season opener

Hilton hosted Brockport for both teams’ Section V boys swimming season opener. There was a mix of comradery and competitiveness in the meet between these long-time west side rivals. The final score had Hilton coming out on top, 98.5 to 82.5. 

The meet started off with a competitive 200 medley relay with Hilton’s Morreale, Green, Runyon, and Antonini taking first in 1:49.44. Brockport’s DiFante, Kleehammer, Cunningham, and Dobbertin weren’t far behind finishing in 2:00.58 for second place. The 200 Freestyle had Cadets A.Morreale and G. Antonini taking the top two spots with 1:55.56 and 2:01.13, respectively. Brockport’s D. Cunningham finished third with 2:11.12. Jared Enser racked up another first place finish for Hilton in the 200 IM (2:02.54). Brockport’s N. Dambra came in second (2:08.70) and Hilton’s J.Runyon finished third (2:11.30). A fast 50 freestyle had Hilton sophomore Justin Enser taking first with a state qualifying time of 22.13. J. Falvey and G. Stuhler finished in second and third for the Blue Devils with times of 24.39 and 24.40, respectively. 

Brockport broke Hilton’s first place streak with Zachary Eichas besting the 6-dive event scoring 155.35. Hilton’s M. Wilson placed second with 154.65 and Brockport’s N. Manchester took third with 134.70. 

A tight race in the 100 Butterfly had Hilton’s Jared Enser placing first, 54.40, and Brockport’s N. Dambra (56.28) and D.Cunningham (1:07.46) rounding out the top three. The 100 freestyle saw Hilton taking first and second with Justin Enser (49.57) and A.Morreale (51.00) and Brockport’s J. Falvey taking third (53.95). Hilton swept the top three spots in the 500 freestyle with G. Antonini (5:26.75), T. Green (5:31.10), and W. Green (5:52.39). 

Hilton’s Enser, Morreale, Runyon, Enser took first place in the 200 free relay with a state qualifying 1:29.93. Brockport’s Dambra, Dobbertin, Stuhler, and Falvey took second in 1:38.59. 

Hilton had a strong showing in the 100 backstroke, with J. Runyon (59.72) and D. Mesh (1:08.07) taking the top two spots. C. Dobbertin (1:09.35) took third for Brockport. The Cadets also took the top two spots in the 100 breaststroke led by freshman Trent Green in first (1:10.05) and Seamus Gavigan in second with 1:19.50. Brockport’s Brad Kleehammer came in third with 1:20.94. 

Brockport closed out the meet by taking the top two spots in the 400 freestyle relay with Dambra, DiFante, Cunningham, and Falvey coming in first (3:48.17) followed by Haibach, Parmele, Manchester, and Duell with 4:30.08.
