Hilton poolers defeat Irondequoit
Hilton hosted Irondequoit on January 6 for an evening of boys swimming and diving. The final score had the Cadets winning 100 to 81, making Hilton 4-0 and Irondequoit 0-2 so far this season.
The meet started with an exciting 200 medley relay that saw Hilton’s Morreale, Enser, Runyon, and Enser breaking the varsity record with a first-place finish of 1:42.54. Irondequoit’s Riester, Manhertz, Searles, and Tuttle came in a close second place (1:43.35).
The 200 freestyle had Runyon take first place for the Cadets (1:49.97), while Irondequoit’s Riester took second (2:01.34), and Hilton’s Mesh grabbed third (2:12.60).
Hilton gained another first in the 200 IM with Justin Enser’s 2:04.77 finish. Irondequoit took second and third with Searles (2:07.93) and Bianco (2:19.03).
Hilton took first and second in the 50 freestyle with Jared Enser (22.04) and Morreale (23.21), while Tuttle took third for Irondequoit (23.92).
Irondequoit’s diver Micheal Wood took first place with an impressive 259.20, while Hilton’s Matthew Wilson took second with 160.60, and Irondequoit’s Kembo Luzolo took third with 112.25.
Irondequoit earned another first-place win in the 100 butterfly with Searles’ 56.28 finish. Hilton’s Runyon was a close second (56.65) followed by Irondequoit’s Bianco in third (1:03.67).
The 100 freestyle had Hilton’s Justin Enser finishing first (49.12), followed by Riester (53.19) and Palmer (55.85) in second and third for Irondequoit.
The 500 freestyle had Green grabbing first for the Cadets (5:22.63), and an exciting neck and neck race for second place went to Irondequoit’s Manhertz (5:34.31) with Hilton’s Gavigan coming right behind in third (5:34.90).
Hilton took first and second in the 200 free relay with Enser, Morreale, Runyon, and Enser coming in at 1:30.10 and Bateman, Gargano, Lucas Rudd, and Trent Green coming in at 1:50.23.
Jared Enser earned another first-place finish for the Cadets in the 100 backstroke (55.41). Second place went to Irondequoit’s Tuttle (57.07), and Morreale finished in third for Hilton (1:00.14).
Irondequoit’s Manhertz grabbed first place in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.33), while Hilton took second and third with Trent Green (1:08.27) and Rosario (1:16.84).
Irondequoit closed out the meet by taking both first and second in the 400 freestyle relay with Bianco, Manhertz, Waasdorp, and Palmer coming in at 3:58.89 and Simon, DeLorme, Simon, and Graham coming in at 4:45.
