Hilton Girls Soccer raise money for Breast Cancer awareness
For more than three decades during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Hilton Girls Soccer Program has been raising money for Breast Cancer awareness, education, prevention, and research. That tradition continued on Monday, October 10, at a major fundraising game at Hilton High School. Both the Hilton Girls JV team and the Hilton Girls varsity team played against Spencerport. Before the varsity game, all the student athletes and their coaches walked the track to bring awareness to the event. A video played with details about the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester, the organization for which the girls raised $3,400. During halftime of the varsity game, breast cancer survivors were asked to take the field, and another video played with more about why these games are so important, and why the skills they’re learning in soccer like tenacity and perseverance, are life skills that go way beyond the pitch. JV Coach Pam Stadtmiller, a breast cancer survivor, tweeted, “What a great day and turnout to support Breast Cancer Awareness. Thank you to everyone in the Hilton Community.”
