The Churchville-Chili Girls Varsity Cross Country team won the Section V Class A Championship on Saturday, November 4, with a score of 61 points. The team celebrated with a fire truck parade back to school Saturday, followed by a team parade through the high school to show off the sectional brick Monday morning.
Coach Richard Strasser was also named the Section V Class A Girls Cross Country Coach of the Year. This is his second time earning this honor.
The win earns the entire girls team a trip to the state championship which will be held on Saturday, November 11 at Vernon Verona Sherrill High School.
Two of the boys varsity cross country athletes – Ryan Giglia Jr. and Nathan Sikorski – also qualified for the state championship due to their performance in Sectionals.
