Pole vaulters set stage at Nazareth Alumni Classic; King breaks own record

One week after her first record-breaking performance, pole vaulter Brynn King again set a new mark for NCAA Division II and the Roberts Wesleyan track and field program.

King won the event at the Nazareth Alumni Classic with a clearance of 4.42 meters (14-feet 6-inches) to beat out her height from last week by half an inch.

Joining King in an outstanding pole vault performance was Melia Couchman. The freshman hit the NCAA provisional standard by clearing 3.75 meters (12 feet 3-1/2 inches). Couchman is now third all time in Roberts history behind King and Jenn Suhr.

On the track, Hailee Lowe was a second-place finisher in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.38.
Demar Osbourne was the highest finisher for the men’s team taking third place in the shot put. The junior had a toss of 13.88-meters (45-feet 6-1/2-inches).

The Redhawks will be on a break until January 20 when the team travels down the road to the Brockport Invitational.
