Seven-seed Brockport upsets defending Sectional champion

With a 29-yard field goal kicked by Isaiah Markel in double overtime, seven-seed Brockport upset defending Sectional champion East High 45-42 in the Class A football quarterfinals on November 1. Quarterback Landon Scott (pictured left) led the team with six touchdowns.

Brockport boys varsity soccer team earn 2024 Section V Class A title

The Brockport boys varsity soccer team (18-1-0) earned the 2024 Section V Class A title with a 4-3 win over top-seeded Pittsford Mendon on November 2. Three of the team’s four goals were scored by Cash Rosado during the first 20 minutes of the game and he had an assist on the goal scored by Will Hawken in the second half. This is Brockport’s fifth sectional title in program history and the first since 2017.

Holley varsity cheerleaders win C2 Sectional title

Holley varsity cheerleaders won the C2 Sectional title on November 2. This is Holley’s first fall Sectional title, but they have won three prior Winter Section titles. Team members are Bella Emery, Casie Emery, Skylar Gallagher, Natalie Foose, Lexi Guerrero, Michelle Lonnen, Lorainna Jones, Maggie Skehan, Isla Schultz, Madison Lowell, Serenity Rath, Mallory Davis, Hailey Gonzalez, and Jose Valentin. Bella Emery also received the Nancy Saxton leadership award. The team is coached by Kelley and Katie Chilson-Foose.

Kendall boys soccer claims Section V Class C2 title

Top-seeded Kendall claimed the Section V Class C2 boys soccer title with a 3-1 win over Genesee Valley-Belfast on November 2. Pablo Rosario-Reyes scored Kendall’s first and third goals of the match, bookending a goal by Colby Hughes. This is the first sectional title for the Eagles since 1998. The team went on to defeat East Rochester 3-0 in the Section V Class C state qualifier on November 5.

Spencerport’s girls varsity soccer team win ninth straight Section V Class AA title

Spencerport’s girls varsity soccer team won their ninth straight Section V Class AA title on November 2, defeating Hilton 2-1. The game-winning goal was scored by eighth-grader Julia Maloney with just 45 seconds left in the game. Senior midfielder Jayda Solomon scored Spencerport’s other goal early in the game. This win brings the Rangers’ unbeaten streak to 42 straight matches.
