Thank You from Cartons For Christmas

In early December, neighbors reach out to help neighbors through Cartons For Christmas. The Spencerport community generously donated food, gift cards, money, toys, and turkeys, which were distributed to 138 families (455 people) along with 147 toys for young children. We thank all individuals for their donations and participation.

Donna Granger, Toy Coordinator, ensured that all young kids received a gift. Thank you to Toy Tree sponsors: Cathy Fowler (Fowlers Canaltown Wine & Spirits), Ginny Swarthout (The Unique Shop), Kate Czarnecki (Spencerport Federal Credit Union), and Jeannette Vogler (Town of Ogden, a new venue this year). We are so appreciative of the folks who selected the angels and bought and wrapped gifts for the children. Donna is grateful to her team of Pam Cooper, Donna Perry, Mikayla Granger, Rae Edwards, Pat Stoffel, and the SHS Jazz Ensemble for their assistance.
Thanks to the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary (Barb Marhatta) for food shopping, card writing, angel cutting, and packing food, and Joann Grassi for coordinating food shoppers.
Thank you to the transporters of food, toys, boxes, and shopping carts: Lynn Phillips, Greg Dorgan, Bruce Kolb & Jim Downs, Rae Edwards, and Jim & Joann Grassi.
Jim Grassi coordinates the floor activities: the sorting table, packing, and delivery loading. He is grateful to his team of assistants: Jim Stoffel, Mikayla Granger, Danielle Phillips, Cosgrove Service Club, Helen & Rod Grigg, Spencerport Soccer Club Boys 2010 Gold Team, and Ian Hanley, our Outside Man, who oversees the delivery team. For handling a large number of deliveries, we thank Spencerport Volunteer Fire Department Explorers (Chris Damon), Gates Volunteer Ambulance (Rich Verdouw), the Granger men (Josh, Wade & Peter), Rotary Club, and the American Legion. To all individuals and families making deliveries, you make this happen.
Our committee members, Lynn Phillips, Jim & Joann Grassi, Danielle Phillips, and Donna Granger, attack this effort each year with energy, thoughtfulness, and inventiveness. That’s how it comes together!
We wish to thank our sponsors, Spencerport Ecumenical Ministries: Adams Basin Methodist Church, First Congregational Church, Ogden Baptist Church, Ogden Presbyterian Church, Spencerport Wesleyan Church, St. John the Evangelist, Trinity Lutheran Church, United Methodist Church, and Grace Church of the Nazarene.
