The new Green Energy project that Brockport residents will automatically be OPTED IN promises lower than average GREEN energy rates. (Not STANDARD energy rates). Sneaky wording. It’s unfortunate that we pay two different utility companies as well as very high water rates for an outdated system that promises regular Water Outages.
Brockport officials are trying to convince you that we are advanced and ahead of the curve. If you look around, you’ll see we don’t even have recycling containers on Main St. Or a Recycling Center. We boast being a “Tree City USA”, however our trees are regularly butchered for Power Line Clearances. Trees and bushes crowd sidewalks and roadways.
Our efforts would be better spent providing Basic Services for over-taxed residents. Services designed for safety, efficiency, and resident cost savings.
-a negotiated rate for all residents’ trash pickup.
-a Village recycling center and Main St. Receptacles.
-Replacement of crumbling sidewalks beginning with Main St.
-a transparent Public works website that shows what’s being done/spent each day
-Elimination of Narrow roads by widening, and Curbing on all streets.
-a closer look at the True cost of our Water system including overtime and benefits.
-Have a public works rep, responsible for each Street. Cleaned, Cleared, Sidewalk edged.
-Clean the roads after a storm, and Monthly Street Sweeping and Storm Drain Cleaning.
-Budget to have at least one Dilapidated Building torn down each year.
-Explore moving some power lines underground each year.
We are decades behind other parts of the state and country. Look around!! Things can be better! Demand accountability, transparency, and a public staff that possess common sense! Say “No” and “Opt Out” to their shady Green Power Deal until Basic Services are provided.
