Congressman Chris Jacobs pledged his allegiance to President Trump during the Republican Convention, not to the Constitution. Buffalo News Editorial (6/13/20) wrote: “But Republican politics these days demand fealty to Trump and a host of extreme positions. Jacobs, for example, supports a wall along the American southern border when there are better and cheaper ways to secure the nation. But that’s dogma now.” We can do better than personal loyalty; we can safeguard our ideals to make a more just society.
Mr. Jacobs is running a campaign in a Trump-style, using fear of foreigners, and the politics of resentment to win re-election. He treats migrant farm workers as second class citizens and he voted to treat Asian-Americans as second class citizens, (H.R. 908, House vote 9/17/20). We must do better than this divisiveness; we can create a more equitable society.
Mr. Jacobs recently attended a pro-gun rally in Hamburg which the Buffalo News editorial, (9/30/20), called a “devolution of American Politics.” In the absence of policies or platform or plans, all Mr. Jacobs has left is the radical politics of resentment and anger. We are better than fear-mongering, anger, and the radicalization of politics. Now with over 200,000 fellow citizens dead from coronavirus, our economy in free-fall, schools and society in disarray, we have to be better.
Nate McMurray is running an honest, grassroots-driven campaign that will make us better. Nate McMurray has plans and rational solutions for a path forward. It is time to roll away the stone of fear and anger, of scapegoating and to work for the citizens of New York’s 27th district. It is time to vote for Nate McMurray.
