Donald E. Foley

Donald E. Foley passed away after a brief illness on November 20th 2024 at age 78. He is predeceased by his parents, Ross J. and Marian H. (Bowen) Foley; his beloved wife, Mary Margaret (Binsack) Foley; sister and brother in-law, Loretta (Foley) Edward Loranty; brothers, Nelson (Shirley), Ross and Dennis Foley. He is survived by his sister in-laws, Jan and Betty Foley along with several nieces and nephews. “Family” Dave Binsack and Eileen Pines, Maria Carrone, Gigi Rood; grandchildren, Jackson and Ella, Mark Salvaggio and Patty Kay Randall and many more dear friends.

Don was a Naval veteran serving 4 years on the USS Massey DD-778 as a Machinist Mate, advancing to MM-3. A longtime member of the legion first joining the Sing Sing Prison legion while working as a corrections officer right after his charge. Don served as 3rd Vice Commander and was on the Board of Directors for many years. He was awarded the National certificate for his 50 years of continuous years of membership with a total of 58 years. He was also a member of the Moose lodge for a continuous 58 years.

Don, a retiree of Kodak, prided himself on never missing a day of work during his 30 years of employment. Don was generous with his time and love, caring for his loving wife and many dear friends that pre-deceased him. Don was always up for time spent with friends, family and fun. He and Mary Margaret enjoyed traveling. He was always looking for his next cruise, never missed a Navy reunion and spent the past three winters in Florida. His witty humor, many stories, kindness and generosity made him a very special man. He will be missed tremendously by all that knew him.

A celebration of life will be held Monday, Nov. 25th from 3-6pm at the American Legion Smith-Warren Post 367, 61 Main St. Scottsville, NY 14546.
