The newly renovated Medal of Honor wall inside the Orleans County Legislative Building stands as a permanent salute to the five Medal of Honor recipients from Orleans County, from the Indian Campaign to the Iraq War: Charles D. Harris, David G. Bellavia, John Edward Butts, Forrest Lee “Woody” Vosler, and Thomas Wilber Kates . This project was spearheaded by the County Legislature and Veterans Services Agency, and it’s a powerful reminder: our freedom was paid for by the few willing to give it all.
