Spencerport Urgent Care now a Strong West facility

The University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) officially acquired the Lakeside Health System’s clinical practices and Spencerport urgent care, transferring the entities over to Strong Memorial Hospital’s license. The acquisition took effect July 15.

Patients visiting those locations – the primary care practices of Vladimir Gaspar, M.D., and Didem Miraloglu, M.D., located in LeRoy and the Lakeside Physician Office Building, respectively, and the urgent care facility at 42 Nichols Street, Spencerport – are expected to experience a seamless transition, with the teams of health care providers unchanged at each site, according to a press release.

The actual purchase of the Lakeside Health System’s properties, including the Lakeside Hospital facility and physician office building at 156 West Avenue, is proceeding as planned but is not expected to be finalized until late July or early August. Lakeside is required to obtain Attorney General and Supreme Court approval prior to sale of those assets to URMC.

Renamed URMC Strong West, plans are to establish an urgent care center at the former Lakeside Hospital property by late August or early September, along with laboratory and imaging services that will support Brockport-area physicians and the urgent care center. The time frame is dependent upon the purchase date of the property. URMC also will pursue Department of Health approval for a full-service, freestanding Emergency Department for early 2014.

Lakeside continues to own and operate its Beikirch Care Center.

The Lakeside Board announced June 18 that it was selling most of its health system’s assets to URMC. The hospital closed its doors in April.
