Ogden Democrats coordinate with Ogden Farmers’ Library to clean up children’s garden

The Ogden Democrats coordinated with the Ogden Farmers’ Library to spend several hours cleaning up the children’s garden the morning of September 6, as the space needed a refresh. It was a cool and wet morning, so volunteers got a bit muddy as they worked. However, cool, overcast, damp days are the best time to transplant perennials, so the weather worked in the garden’s favor. Volunteers spent time weeding and pruning overgrown shrubs and trees to both tidy up the space and prevent trees from hanging too low over the walkway. They transplanted tall coneflowers to the back of the flower beds so that shorter plants like autumn joy sedum would now be visible. They also moved the lavender plants to the front, where children will be able to see and smell them. Volunteers from the Ogden Democrats have adopted the garden and provide regular maintenance to make sure children have a beautiful and pleasant place to enjoy when they go to the library. This refresh helped to improve the aesthetics and health of the garden. Anyone interested in volunteering with this group in the future can find the Ogden Democrats on Facebook.
