Hello, Cello!

As part of their Summer Reading Game program the Newman Riga Library presented Adele Mockevicius and her program for kids of all ages “Hello Cello.”As part of the Newman Riga Library’s Summer Reading Game program, the Newman Riga Library, in the Village of Churchville, presented Adele Mockevicius and her program, “Hello Cello,” along with her Cello Petting Zoo on Tuesday, July 16.

Adele Mockevicius is a part-time children’s librarian at the Brighton Memorial Library and has developed her program over the last two years to introduce children to the cello. Adele has also presented this program to other libraries in the Monroe County Library system.

In her program, Adele started with reading a story called “I Know a Shy Fellow Who Swallowed a Cello” that caught the attention of all the children who attended the event. She then went on to tell the children and adults who attended all about her cello. The highlight of the program occurred during Adele’s introduction to her cello when she invited the children to touch her cello and feel its strings.

The program ended with children of all ages exploring Adele’s Cello Petting Zoo that included cellos of all sizes. The program ended with Adele playing a short performance and all the children exploring Adele’s Cello Petting Zoo that included cellos of all sizes and for kids of all ages.
