BROCKPORT: Farmer, Elsie Evelyn Samus, age 103, died November 8, 2025. She was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Bertha Kompolt Samus; her beloved husband, Delmar Farmer; sisters, Dorothy Tidwell, Ruth VanDuser, and Shirley Nichols; her son, Gary Farmer; and great-grandson, Thomas Angelo. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Kory Mono; granddaughter, René (Jim) Constantine; great-grandchildren, Jessica, James, and Jaqueline Constantine; nieces and nephews, Paula (Jeff) Peters, Bobbi (Larry) Speed, Debi (Dave) Thom, Doug (Jennifer) VanDuser, Scott (Carol) Nichols, Todd (Judy) Nichols, Lynn (Rob) Ehret, and Dwayne (Donna) Farmer; and many cherished friends. A graduate of the Rochester General School of Nursing in 1944, Elsie devoted her life to caring for others. She worked as a staff nurse at SUNY Brockport for 18 years and also served as a part-time night nurse for General Electric. A devout member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Brockport, Elsie lived her faith through service and community. She enjoyed line dancing, quilting, and participating in activities at the Sweden-Clarkson Community Center. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 18, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 158 East Avenue, Hilton. Spring Interment in Lakeview Cemetery, Brockport. BROCKPORT: Rich, Rosa “Rosie” LaSorte, died November 10, 2025, at age 92. Rosie was predeceased by her husband, George; her parents, Vitantonio and Rosa LaSorte; sister, Francesca LaSorte Cohen; and brothers, Dr. Antonio LaSorte and Frank LaSorte. She is survived by her special nieces, Cassandra Rich and Marcia (Paul) Proto and their children, Anthony and Nathaniel; nephew, Randy (Carrie) Rich and their children Talia, Theo “George”, and Nash; brother-in-law, Terry (Mary Ellen) Rich; brother, Michael LaSorte, PhD; many loving nieces and nephews, plus a few great-great nieces and nephews. Rosie was a proud SUNY Cortland graduate who taught in public schools in Troy and Batavia, NY, and Ottawa, Ontario. She taught at the college level at The College at Brockport, University of Buffalo, and American University of Beirut, Lebanon, becoming their first Director of Women’s Athletics, and the first Dean of Women at International College in Beirut. She also served as Assistant to the Dean of Students at St. Francis College in Loretto, PA, and Director of Diners Fugazy Travel School in New York City. During her tenure at the American University of Beirut in 1967, the Arab-Israeli six-day war ensued, and Rosie was invited by the US government to join a committee with seven men to formulate and execute a plan for the successful evacuation of 5,000 Americans within a 24-hour period. Like with everything in Rosie’s career – mission accomplished. After marrying in 1973 and settling in Brockport, Rosie became a pillar in the Brockport and SUNY Brockport communities for over 40 years, receiving numerous awards and honors for her contributions to educational, civic, and charitable organizations. Rosie was honored with the 1998 Outstanding Service Award, the 2012 Brockport Foundation Volunteers of the Year (jointly with George), and the 2022 Alumni Association Distinguished Service Recognition. Rosie contributed to and spearheaded the outdoor renovation and beautification of the historic Alumni House Community Garden on campus.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, November 15, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at Fowler Funeral Home Inc., 340 West Avenue, Brockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. in Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 152 Main Street, Brockport, followed by a luncheon in the Parish Center. Interment will be held privately by the family. To anyone wishing to contribute a charitable gift, Rosie and George had established three SUNY Brockport named funds: Class of 1963 Scholarship Honoring Rosa LaSorte Rich, Class Advisor; George Rich Senior Student-Athlete Award; and George Rich Student Philanthropy Award. Clarendon: Mahnke, Jacqueline L., age 79, died November 11, 2025. She was born September 30, 1946, in Albion to the late Robert and Geraldine (Radner) Brooks. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Arnold, in 2007, and daughter, Charlene Moy. Jackie is survived by her children, Glenn (Beth) Moy, Marsha (Paul Weldon) Moy; loving partner, Harold Bowen; grandchildren, Dustin Moy, Matthew (Brittany) Welch, Nikki Welch, Joshua (Katie) Welch; five great-grandchildren; brother, David (Chris) Brooks; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jackie enjoyed camping, fishing, sewing, and tending to her garden. She was a long-time employee of the USPS, mainly working out of the Clarendon Post Office, but also in Fancher and Holley.

HILTON: Baker, Robert G., age 92, died November 4, 2025. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Agnes Baker; his beloved wife, Evelyn Hall Baker (2007); and his siblings, Rev. James Baker, Mary Wilbur, Marjorie Baker, and John Baker. Robert is survived by his loving children, Bonnie (William) DeGraeve, Robert G. Jr. (Christine) Baker and Cynthia (Rick Mancuso) Micalizio; his brother-in-law, Albert Hall Jr.; his sister-in-law, Beverly Baker; grandchildren, William (Michelle) DeGraeve, Joe (Stacey) DeGraeve, Shannon (Coleman) Glasgow, Kelly (Jarrod) Miracle, Valerie (Jay Pfenninger) Micalizio, and Adam (Jen) Micalizio; 16 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and his loving companion, Barb Taif. Robert was employed as a procurement engineer with Xerox Corporation for many years. He was a true craftsman at heart. He could build just about anything, from model schooners and mini bikes to dune buggies and tractors. His love for the water ran deep; he owned a 42-foot Chris-Craft boat and spent countless hours enjoying it. As the owner of a marina and campground in Wolcott, NY, he created a welcoming haven for others who shared his love of boating and the outdoors. In his retirement, he shared his love of music by playing guitar and singing at local assisted living communities, including Hilton East Residential Home, every Monday.
A Memorial Mass was held on November 13 at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, Hilton. Interment at the convenience of the family in Parma Union Cemetery. SPENCERPORT: Nau, Gerard G., age 95, died November 6, 2025. He was born on September 14, 1930, the son of the late Louis and Anna Nau. Gerard is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Eleanor Nesius Nau; brother, Raymond; and sisters, Florence, Dorothy, and Arline. He is survived by his brother, Edwin; sons, Lawrence (Lili) Nau of Churchville and Dr. Gerard J. Nau (Dr. Amy) of Sharon, MA; and grandchildren, Nathan, Yvette, Olivia, and Clark. Gerard enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and growing orchids.
