New York Times Bestselling Author
New York Times bestselling author Neal Shusterman spoke with Brockport students on December 9, sharing insight into his writing process, books, and creative journey. During the discussion, Shusterman reflected on his path to becoming an author, the importance of creativity in storytelling, and several teachers who helped inspire his love of writing.
Following his presentation, three student moderators joined Shusterman on stage to ask questions compiled by the student body. He later participated in an informal after-school meet-and-greet, discussion, and book signing in the BHS Library, where he also treated students to a sneak preview by reading a chapter from a book he is currently working on.
In the weeks leading up to the visit, students and staff immersed themselves in his work through classroom readings, original student writing, artwork on display in the atrium, and “First Chapter Fridays” shared by staff to build excitement.
