Death Notices

BROCKPORT: Mitchell, Elaine E., passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025, at Elderwood of Lakeside in Brockport, NY, at the age of 98. She was predeceased by her first husband, John Wright; her second husband, Fred Mitchell; and her brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd and Myrtle Boyce. She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Wright (Brockport) and Carol Wright Duerr (Dennis) (Kendall, NY). She is also survived by her granddaughters, Jennifer Duerr Cohen (John) and Rebecca Duerr Fisher (Jeff); three great-grandchildren, Megan, Josh, and Allyson Fisher, and several stepchildren.

Born in Syracuse, New York, Elaine’s early interests included horseback riding, roller skating, and dancing the jitterbug. She graduated from East Syracuse High School in 1946 with a major in business. Her secretarial jobs included working for several years for the Syracuse NYS Department of Transportation. She was a long-time member of Eastwood Baptist Church in Syracuse, sang in the choir, visited shut-in members, and served as a Dean of the Church for several years. In addition to the choir, Elaine’s other interests included creative sewing, line dancing, and traveling with her husband, Fred. Elaine moved to Royal Garden Apartments in the Brockport area 14 years ago to be near family.

Special thanks to the staff at Elderwood and Hospice where Elaine spent the last few months of her life. Their kind and loving care is so appreciated.

CHILI: Lootens, Patricia A., died December 18, 2025, at age 89. She was predeceased by her siblings, James (Pat) Nothnagle, Mary (Jim) Graves, Richard Nothnagle, Robert (Carol) Nothnagle, and Delores (Richard) Christansen. She is survived by her children, John (Julie) Schultheis, Michael (Linda) Schultheis, Paula (Joe) Hellaby, Scott Schultheis, and Sandra (Bryan) Bean; grandchildren, Joey (Laura) Hellaby, Mark Hellaby, James, Catherine and Elizabeth Schultheis, Thomas (Cheyanne) Bean, Katelyn Bean, and Michael and Allison Schultheis; great-grandchildren, Alexander, Oliver and Amelia Hellaby, Elliana Zintel, and Ryan Bean; siblings, William Nothnagle, Clara Wade, Barbara (William) Fantauzzo, and Elizabeth Nothnagle; brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Patricia was a devout Catholic and a long-time member of Holy Ghost Church and choir. She enjoyed golf and swim aerobics.  
Pat’s Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Pius Tenth Church, 3000 Chili Avenue, Rochester, NY 14624. Interment will be at Holy Ghost Cemetery. HOLLEY: Miller, Douglas G. “Butch,” age 82, died on December 16, 2025. Douglas was born in Buffalo and, as a young man, attended the National Meat Cutting School in Toledo, Ohio, beginning a lifelong dedication to hard work and providing for his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Rita (Anzinger) Miller; sisters, Jean (Miller) Marshall and Celine (Miller) Fuentes; beloved daughter, Donna Rowley; and grandson, Collin Thiel. He is survived by his children, Richard (Cathy) Miller, Douglas (Yolanda) Miller, Jeffery (Carolina) Miller, and Dawn Thiel, along with his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him great pride and joy. Douglas enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening, but above all, he treasured time spent with his family.
