James Walter Cook; Honoree Danielle Windus-Cook; Nominator, Rotarian and former award winner Jo Matela; Rotary District 7120 Governor Nominee and Greece Rotarian Bill Gormont and Outgoing Brockport Rotary president Doug Clare.Danielle Windus-Cook of Danielle Windus-Cook Properties was honored at the Brockport Rotary Club’s annual changeover dinner meeting with the award. Nominator Jo Matela stated that Windus-Cook, a lifelong resident of Brockport, gives generously of her time and effort to help the community fulfill its potential. She has been active in local Twig, as a Sweden Town Board member, an innovator of the Farmers Museum and energetic school district supporter among many other activities. She also renovated the historic building she uses for her business.

Coincidentally, her son, James Walter Cook recently received the club’s scholarship, making two family winners of Rotary awards in the same month. Windus-Cook spoke movingly of knowing Rudy Smith and how the award means even more to her since it is named for Rudy (renamed for long time Rotarian Rudolph Smith two years ago.)

Previous winners of the award include The College at Brockport, Steve Appleton and the Cool Kids Program, Bob and Debbie Ryan and Dr. Jim Goetz of Oak Orchard Community Health Center.
