The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation has announced that statewide qualifying procedures for lifeguards will be held in the Finger Lakes Region on the following dates:
Odessa Montour High School
300 College Ave, Odessa, NY, 14869
Saturday, April 4, 2026 – Start Time 9 a.m.
Saturday, May 9, 2026 – Start Time 9 a.m.
Southern Cayuga High School
2384 State Route 34B, Aurora, NY, 13026
Friday, May 29, 2026 – Start Time 4:30 p.m.
The qualifier will begin right at the start time. Candidates are encouraged to arrive a half hour before the qualifier to register and are given the opportunity to practice their CPR skills.
All qualifiers are open to new candidates and returning lifeguards. The qualifying procedures evaluate practical lifesaving skills and cardiopulmonary resuscitation skills. All items of the qualification procedure are evaluated on a pass/fail basis.
Candidates are required to bring swimming gear, their picture ID,and their own pocket masksfor the CPR portion of the exam.
