Rochester Music Mafia

Celebrating the Local Music Scene

What began in 2025 as a grassroots Facebook group designed to support local musicians has rapidly grown into one of the Rochester area’s most vibrant music communities. Its founder, Dom Genova, is the current host of the popular radio show and podcast “The No-Nonsense Roundtable,” a weekly show heard on Rochester’s WYSL 1040.

The Rochester Music Mafia, a private Facebook group created to connect musicians and music fans throughout the Greater Rochester area, has officially surpassed 2,464 members — a milestone that represents more people than the seating capacity of most of the major Rochester entertainment venues, including the Kodak Center, the Kodak Hall at the Eastman Theatre, and the West Herr Performing Arts Center.

Inspired by the community-driven spirit of the Bills Mafia, the Rochester Music Mafia was founded with a simple mission: to support the musicians who regularly perform throughout the Rochester area while bringing together fans of every musical genre.

The group serves as a hub where:

  • Musicians can promote upcoming performances
  • Fans can discover local artists and live music venues
  • Artists can collaborate, network, and discuss industry topics
  • The Rochester community can celebrate, strengthen, and recognize its local music scene

“This is more than just a Facebook group,” said the organization’s founder, Dom Genova, “It’s a real community. Rochester has incredible musical talent, and this group gives musicians and fans a place to support one another, promote new artists, and help keep live music thriving throughout our region.”

Since its launch, Rochester Music Mafia has grown steadily through word-of-mouth and community engagement, attracting members from across all genres and generations of musicians and music lovers.

The long-term vision for Rochester Music Mafia is to continue building a positive and supportive network that serves both performers and the broader Rochester community — whether formally recognized or simply united by a shared love of local music.
