St. John the Evangelist Catholic Parish Hosts a Eucharistic Procession

On Sunday, June 7, the streets of Spencerport became the setting for a public witness of faith as parishioners from St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church gathered for their annual Corpus Christi Eucharistic Procession.

Following the 11:15 a.m. Mass, parishioners processed through the neighborhood accompanying the Blessed Sacrament, which Catholics believe is the true presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist, carried reverently in a sacred vessel, called a Monstrance.

Led by Father Sriram Sadhanala, Pastor of St. John’s, the procession moved prayerfully through local streets with hymns, prayer, and moments of quiet reflection, drawing parishioners of all ages together in a visible expression of devotion and unity. Among those participating were children who recently celebrated their First Holy Communion, along with the cross bearer, acolytes, altar servers, and members of the Knights of Columbus, whose presence added to the beauty and reverence of the celebration.

The event marked the Catholic celebration of Corpus Christi, also known as the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, a feast dedicated to honoring the Eucharist and Christ’s presence among His people.

For many participants, the procession was more than tradition. It was an experience of peace, reverence, and shared faith.

“You don’t have to be Catholic to be moved by the image of people walking together in reverence, love, and hope,” one parishioner shared. “It felt like a prayer in motion for our families, our town, and our world.”

As the procession passed through Spencerport, some residents paused to watch quietly from their homes and sidewalks, creating small moments of connection between the parish and the wider community.

Participants described the day as uplifting and deeply meaningful, filled with joy, prayer, and a renewed sense of closeness to both God and one another.

For St. John’s parishioners, the procession served as a reminder that faith is not meant to remain hidden within church walls, but lived openly with reverence, humility, and hope.
