Opinion & Comments: Museum Expansion Unlikely

Sarah Hart writes passionately in the June 5, 2026, edition of the Westside News about improving the display of Helen Hastings’ artwork in the Brockport Museum.

She advocates expanding the museum into the space currently used by the court.

Please remember that the plan stated during the campaign of the current Village Board was to sell the Main Street Village Hall and cram the Village offices back into the building that now houses the Court and the Museum. Space limitations make it much more likely that the Village would reduce the museum’s size rather than expand it.

One trustee has stated that he does not want to spend one more nickel on amenities in the village – he wants to cut more.

This Board is unlikely to listen to your pleas.
