The new mural on the east side of A Different Path Gallery in Brockport was unveiled during a ceremony held August 10.
Gallery owner Katherine Weston said the project was fully funded by contributions made by family, friends and fellow artists. Weston credited her late friend Jeanne Sozio with providing inspiration and encouragement for the project. Sozio passed away in May and the mural is dedicated in her memory. Sozio had asked that in lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to A Different Path Gallery for the project.
The mural features bright colors of purple, orange, yellow, lime green and, “familiar faces from the art world as well as some new additions, such as Fiona, the gallery’s official greeter,” Weston said.
Donated funds are also helping with an art garden and a second mural planned for the back of the building, Weston said.
