Byron-Bergen Soccer Player Takes Next Step to Division III

On June 10, Byron-Bergen senior Megan Jarkiewicz committed to continuing her formal education after graduation at Utica University, where she will compete in Division III Women’s Soccer. The official signing was witnessed by Byron-Bergen Varsity Soccer Coach Wayne Hill, Athletic Director Rich Hannan, and Jarkiewicz’s family.
“It has been an honor to coach Megan,” said Hill. “She came up to varsity during her 8th-grade year. Watching her grow from a shy young player to a dominant defensive stalwart has been a joy! I’m so happy for her to be continuing her education and soccer career at Utica. I know she’ll give everything she can in this next stage of her life. She’s ready for this!”
While at Byron-Bergen, Jarkiewicz participated in soccer, basketball, and track and field. She was a five-time sectional champion, four-time regional champion, and a member of the 2024 Class C NYS Champion Team.
“I would like to thank all my family, especially my mom, dad, sister, and grandparents, for always being there for me,” said Jarkiewicz.
Jarkiewicz plans to study Adolescent Education with a focus on 7-12 Social Studies.
