Churchville-Chili Appoints New Coordinators of Special Education

The Churchville-Chili Central School District has appointed Melinda Pier as High School Coordinator of Special Education and Hannah McCann as Elementary Coordinator of Special Education. Both appointments were made at the June 23 Board of Education meeting.
Pier is currently a Special Education Teacher in the Churchville-Chili Central School District, where she has worked for 20 years. She earned her bachelor’s degree in English/Elementary and Special Education at Nazareth University, her master’s in Literacy at Nazareth University, and her School District and Building Leadership Certification at the University of Rochester. This is her twenty-third year in the field of education.

Pier says she is very excited to begin this new position and looks forward to supporting students and staff in a different light. She began in the Student Services Office on July 1.

McCann is currently the Associate Director of Special Education in the Rochester City School District, where she has worked since 2018 as a traveling 1-1 teacher, an assessment coordinator, and a teacher coordinator of special education. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Education at SUNY Geneseo, her master’s in Education at Nazareth College, and her Certificate of Advanced Studies in Educational Leadership at SUNY Brockport.
McCann says she looks forward to working with students, staff, families, and the greater Churchville-Chili community. She will begin in the Student Services Office on July 20.
During the June 23 Board meeting, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction Giulio Bosco also shared his intent to retire in March. The district is thankful for his leadership and the positive impact he has had on its students, staff, and families.
