BROCKPORT: Ruggles, Beverly W., died July 8, 2026, at age 85. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Leonard; son, Leonard Jr.; parents, Lawrence and Mary Wood; brother-in-law, John Fullerton; and sister-in-law, Lola Wood. She is survived by her daughters, Laura (James) Maxon and Linda Ruggles; grandchildren, Alexander (Michelle) Maxon, Brittany (Jason) Marks, Chelsea Maxon, Zachary Maxon, and Ava Rose Ruggles; two great-grandchildren; her siblings, Julia Fullerton, Lawrence Wood, and Sharon (Jonathan) Martino; and several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, July 17, at 11 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 152 Main Street, Brockport. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Contributions in her memory can be made to Golisano Children’s Hospital, 601 Elmwood Avenue, Rochester, NY 14642, Attention: Pediatric Cardiology. Arrangements entrusted to Fowler Funeral Home, Brockport. 

BROCKPORT: Thomas, Deborah (Debbie) Zoe, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026, at the age of 69. Predeceased by parents, Helen and George Hansen; parents-in-law, Beverly and John Thomas; and brother, Daryl Hansen. Survived by husband, Gary Thomas; children, Vanessa (Lisa Goodwin) Thomas, Samantha (Jeff) Coppola, and Jay (Shauna) Thomas; grandkids, Justin and Ava Thomas, Olivia & Sydney Coppola, Jackson Thomas, and great-granddaughter, Gianna Thomas.  Also survived by brothers, David (Elaine) Hansen and Dale (Laurie) Hansen, and sister-in-law, Rachel Hansen.  Also survived by aunts and uncles, many nieces and nephews, and many cousins and dear friends. 

Debbie loved walking in the outdoors, especially on the Canal bank, collecting windchimes, knitting, and was a wellness enthusiast. She loved being a member of the Kendall Lawn Chair Ladies, singing in the Choir of the Brockport United Methodist Church, and doing special music at BUMC with her group “Just Us.”  Her main joy in life was spending as much time as possible with her family and especially with her grandchildren, attending their sporting events, concerts, and ceremonies.

CHURCHVILLE: Biehler, Marlene Ann “Winky,” died June 6, 2026, at age 83. She was predeceased by her parents, Florence and John Hoehn, and her brother, Frederich “Fritz” Hoehn. She is survived by her sisters, Katherine “Kitty” Keller and Christine J. Werth; children, Karl (Kim) Biehler, Lisa (Daryl) Kozak, Laura Biehler, and David (Shelli) Biehler; grandchildren, Kristie, Kyle, Sarah, Jacob, Mackenzie, Jackson, and Alex; great-grandchildren; dear friends; and beloved granddogs. Marlene grew up in a white farmhouse in Churchville. She loved farm life – feeding animals, being outdoors, and being fiercely independent. Her home remained close to her heart, and she spent many of her later years there as well, where she truly made it her own with a beautiful side yard full of birdfeeders, flowers, and wind chimes. She worked as a cake decorator before later retiring from Eastman Kodak Company, where she drove a forklift. Marlene was a collector of many things: Beanie Babies, McDonald’s toys, sports memorabilia, greeting cards, and anything she thought might be useful someday. She also collected stories, recipes, and memories, documenting nearly every moment of her life with handwritten journals and thousands of pictures. She followed sports with unmatched loyalty and enthusiasm. She attended the induction of her favorite quarterback, Joe Montana, into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. She found joy in tending her garden, feeding the birds, picking wild berries, decorating for every holiday, playing Scrabble, and hunting for a good bargain. She enjoyed listening to country music and watching the Food Network.

All are welcome to join in celebrating Marlene’s life at a Funeral Mass to be held at St. Christopher’s Roman Catholic Church, 3350 Union Street, North Chili, on Friday, July 17, at 10 a.m. Donations in her memory can be made to Rescued Treasures Pet Adoptions or the Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center. CLARKSON: Marshall, Kenneth E., age 84, died July 9, 2026, in the Edna Tina Wilson Living Center. He was born June 24, 1942, in Albion to Edward F. and Frances (Sanford) Marshall Sr. and had lived in this area all of his life.

Ken was a United States Navy veteran, having served in the Vietnam War, and was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. He worked for Eastman Kodak and retired after 30+ years of service. Ken was a member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and shooting. Mr. Marshall was predeceased by a brother, Edward “Red” Marshall Jr., and his sister, Catherine Moses.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carol; his daughter, Michelle (Greg) Marshall-Bray; his son, Kenneth (Amanda) Marshall; his brothers, David (Elizabeth) Marshall, Gerald (Christine) Marshall; his 3 grandchildren, Audrey Bray, Casey Marshall, Nathan Marshall; 3 great-grandchildren, Connor, Margaret, and Carson as well as several nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Mass for Ken will be held in St. Leo’s R.C. Church in Hilton and will be announced at a later date. A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.

HAMLIN/KENDALL: Klafehn, Carol Mae, died July 11, 2026, at age 78. She was predeceased by her parents, Marvin and Dorothy Klafehn; brother and sister-in-law, Donald (Karen) Klafehn; and sister-in-law, Sue Klafehn. She is survived by her son, Joseph Klafehn; brother, Larry Klafehn; nephews, Michael (Jennifer) Klafehn and David Klafehn; great-nephew, Jason Klafehn; and good friends, Beverly Ergott, Pat Suhr, Julie Thompson, Linda Kennedy, Eleanor Nettnin, and Jim and Kathy DeMarco. Carol served in the U.S. Air Force from 1974 until 1978. Following her military service, she was employed by Taylor Instruments for many years. She later worked at Chase Bank. She was the treasurer of the congregation at St. John’s for several years, as well as an active member of the Dorcas Society. An avid gardener, she took pride in the beauty she cultivated around her home. She also enjoyed attending ice skating shows and traveling with family and friends. Carol will be remembered for her kindness, warm smile and laugh, loyal friendships, and the love she shared with her family and friends. Her generous spirit and the many happy memories she created will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Carol’s Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 8, at St. John Lutheran Church, 1107 Lake Road North, Hamlin. Burial with Military Honors will take place at the convenience of the family at Lakeside Cemetery in Hamlin. HOLLEY: Gallagher, Mary Ellen Farkas, died July 9, 2026, at age 94.  She was predeceased by her husband, Harry “Pat.” She is survived by her children, Laurie Crowe, Susan (James) Neary, Jill (John) Bartholomew-Gallagher, Patrick (Eileen) Gallagher, and Brian Gallagher; grandchildren, Amy, William, Nathan, Katie, Carrie, Michelle, Jason, and Clare; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; brother, Joseph Farkas; and nieces. Mary was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Ella Farkas, and her sister-in-law, Anne Farkas. Mary Ellen found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved spending time in nature and at her cottage on Honeoye Lake. She cherished her family, adored the many dogs that she had throughout her life, and treasured the strong friendships she built, which spanned many decades. She had a passion for cooking and took just as much delight in sharing and enjoying a good meal with those she loved.

Services were held on July 16 at the Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home, Hilton. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Donations in her memory can be made to the Craig A. Goodrich Dog Shelter, 80 Railroad Avenue, Hamlin, NY 14464-9598.

HOLLEY: LaPlante, Barbara A., age 78, died July 10, 2026. She was born on October 21, 1947, in Rochester to John and Clara (Judd) Rachow. Mrs. LaPlante was predeceased by her son, Ernie LaPlante, and her sister, Susan Rachow. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Carl; children, Nicole (Brian) Lonnen of Kent, Frederick (Jennifer) LaPlante of Holley, Amy (George) Zimmerman of PA; grandchildren, Sheena, Jordan, Taylor, Skylar, Ernie, Hunter, and Hailey; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews. Barb worked as a secretary at St. Joseph’s Villa in Rochester until her retirement. She was an avid reader, enjoyed her flower gardens, and was a very family-oriented woman who adored chasing after her grandchildren.

HOLLEY: Ward, Beulah N., age 95, died July 13, 2026. Beulah was born June 16, 1931, in Spencerport, a daughter of the late Huron and Caroline (Fishbaugh) Ward. Beulah is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was a former employee of A&P Labs in Brockport. Beulah was an avid bowler, winning several awards throughout her life. She enjoyed traveling by car in the United States.

KENDALL: Manchester, Diane Marie Brassard, age 76, died July 9, 2026. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, David; son, Jason (wife Stephanie, children Addison and Peyton); and daughter, Jodi (husband Chris, children Amanda — husband Colbey and their son Grayson, Amber and her husband Heath, and Alyssa and her boyfriend Connor). She was preceded in death by her parents, Vera Marquerita Brassard and Joseph Leonard Brassard, and her sister, Lorraine A. Brassard. She embraced the outdoors and was always ready for fun: 4-wheeling, boating, skiing, and fishing. She baked the best crumb-topping apple pies and zucchini breads. Garage-sale hunting was a lifelong hobby she shared with David — they stopped at every single one. They loved music, dancing, eating clams, and traveling across the U.S. and Canada in their motorhome. In retirement, they spent their winters in Brownsville, TX, enjoying sunshine and new adventures.

SPENCERPORT: Paulick, DuWayne ‘Duke’ F., age 92, died June 26, 2026. Born May 11, 1934, in Draper, Wisconsin, “Duke” was the fifth child born to Joseph and Cora (Hubbell) Paulick, with six other siblings: Ruth, Jean, Joan, Clifford, Dorothy, and Helen. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Barbara A.; children, Jeffery, Theresa, and Craig; three grandchildren, Jeffrey (Evelyn) Rust, and Michael and Matthew Paulick; and one great-grandchild. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. While in the U.S. Air Force Reserves, Duke attended SUNY Brockport Teachers College, receiving his master’s degree in education in December 1962. He taught 7th and 8th grade Social Studies at Gates Chili Middle School, later choosing a position as Vice-Principal, which lasted only five years because he found he loved teaching instead of Administration; ultimately retiring in 1993. He loved riding motorcycles, bowling, fishing, and photography, and had a devotion to the Green Bay Packers. Practicing diligently, he earned his license as an Amateur Radio operator “KA2LFW.” He participated weekly as a member of the Ogden Presbyterian Church Choir, was Treasurer for the Gates VFW-Post 412, the WNY division of the NYS Retired Teachers Association, and was active in The Gates Historical Society and The Rochester Theater Organ Society.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at Ogden Presbyterian Church, 2400 South Union Street, Spencerport, on August 4 at 11 a.m. Donations can be made to the Ogden Presbyterian Church in his memory. Arrangements entrusted to Walker Brothers Funeral Home, Spencerport.

SPENCERPORT: Zamiara, Jean V., died July 3, 2026, at age 96. She is survived by her children, Kathryn Davies (Dirk), John Zamiara (Sue), and Jean Dunshie (Scott); sister, Annabelle Kowalski; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband and partner, Stanley, and her sister, Alice Zamiara. During their life together, Jean and Stanley conceived and opened many hospitality ventures. Their anchor business was always the Plantation Party House. It didn’t stop with the Plantation. Jean, with Stanley, was a serial entrepreneur. They owned and operated many other businesses, opening them and eventually selling them to family and friends. Although she was very proud of her many business accomplishments, Jean most valued her family. This is a family that liked a party, and had many, with Jean happily at the center.

At Jean’s direction, there will be no calling hours. A Funeral Mass will be held on July 21 at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 2400 W. Ridge Rd., Rochester.
