AREA: Hutton, James C., age 85, died July 14, 2026. Jim is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ann Hawkins Hutton of Hamden; daughters, Victoria Hutton Wilson of Bridgeport and Amanda Hutton of Glastonbury; four grandchildren, Julia Wilson and Colin Wilson of New York, NY, Danielle Forte of Wethersfield, and Andrew Forte of Albuquerque, NM; sister, Joan Hutton-Steward of Greenville, SC; and seven nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles A. and Maxine Fowler Hutton, and sister, Barbara Alexander. Jim grew up on a dairy farm in Churchville. He attended Churchville-Chili High School, where he played basketball, later graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a degree in mechanical engineering, and received his master’s in engineering (PE) from the University of Rochester. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he had a 40-year career at Rochester Gas & Electric as a mechanical engineer. He had a lifelong interest in trains, amassing quite the collection of train sets and memorabilia over the years, including massive layouts in the basement of the family home. An avid cyclist, he would often ride along the Farmington Canal Greenway and throughout Vermont with Ann. In his later years, Jim remained an active veteran, organizing Veterans Day events at the Whitney Center, speaking at local schools, and even participating in an Honor Flight just a few years ago
A burial with Military Honors will take place August 21 at 11 a.m. in Fairfield Cemetery, Spencerport. A Memorial Service at the Whitney Center in Hamden is being planned for a later date.
CHILI: Friday, Nancy Marie, died July 23, 2026, at age 71. She was predeceased by her parents, Billy and Betty Nichols, and brother, Garry Nichols. She is survived by her spouse, Anne; children, Christopher (Kristin) Friday and Patrick Friday; sister, Karen (Doug) Proctor; grandchildren, Caden and Ayla Friday; nephews, Michael and Sean Proctor; niece, Melissa Proctor; and close family friend, Steven Latoski.

CHILI: Welch, Richard D. “Dick,” died July 22, 2026, at age 74. He was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Geraldine, and many aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Lynne; children, Kaylan Welch and Joshua (Andrea) Welch; brother, Greg (Pat) Welch; sister-in-law, Marilyn (Jim) Riley; and several nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Throughout his life, Dick exemplified commitment and dedication to different careers as his journey evolved. However, he found true happiness in how he spent his leisure time. Dick proudly served his community as a volunteer firefighter for the Chili Fire Department. He enjoyed the outdoors as an enthusiastic gardener and took great pride in his lawn. Dick was an avid reader, always looking to expand his knowledge of history and all things related to aviation and aircraft. He loved spending quality time with his family at their cabin on Lake Demons, where countless memories will be cherished forever.

CHURCHVILLE: Burling, Lester W., age 91, died July 22, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester J. Burling and Lorraine Burling, and sister, Dorothy (Marvin) Allen. Lester is survived by his devoted wife of 71 years, Shirley E. Burling; children, Melody (Gordon Sr.) DeBruyn, Terry Burger, Kim (James) Philips, and Darryl (Jackie) Burling; grandchildren, Gordon Jr. DeBruyn (Joyce Reggiero), Jason (Nicole) Burger, Christina DeBruyn, Jeremy (Sarah) Burger, Robert Markese, Nicholas Markese (Stephanie Barbor), and Amanda Burling (Robbie Barch); 12 great-grandchildren; and his special four-legged companion, “Bowsaa.” At the age of 18, Lester joined the National Guard. He later began a long and successful career with the Town of Riga, where he worked his way up to being a foreman. He spent 37 years with the Town until his well-earned retirement. Those who knew Lester will remember him as a truly good man: a devoted family man, hardworking, dependable, humble, and quick with a warm sense of humor. He had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued. His steady presence, selfless nature, and compassionate heart touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him.

CHURCHVILLE: Fedigan, George C., died July 14, 2026, at age 70. He was predeceased by his son, Terrance (Terry) Fedigan, and parents, George (Bud) and Doris (Busha) Fedigan. He is survived by his wife, Karen Fedigan; son, George Fedigan; daughter-in-law, Shannon Moreland; grandchildren, Benjamin and Sophia Fedigan; beloved dog, Peanut; mother-in-law, Louise Piehler; brother-in-law, Dan (Maureen) Piehler; sister-in-law, Kathleen Piehler (David Templeton); and dear friends, Tim and Lizz Hannah; nieces, nephews, family, friends, and loyal customers. George grew up in Greece, where he attended Cardinal Mooney High School. He went on to Morrisville College, where he received a degree in automotive technology. He settled in Churchville and opened George’s Service, which he operated with his son, George, for over 40 years.

CHURCHVILLE: Hunt, David Lee, age 76, died July 14, 2026. He is survived by his wife, Donna J. Vink; children, Gregory, Joseph, Samuel, and Grace; and brother, Lorne. He was preceded in death by his son, George. Dave was a graduate of Roberts Wesleyan University and a longtime resident of Churchville and Lighthouse Christian Camp in Barker, NY. He was a factory sales representative for luxury outdoor furniture across the Northeastern United States.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, August 2, from 12 to 2 p.m. at Walker Brothers Funeral Home, 15 West Ave, Spencerport, followed by a Celebration of Life from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Roberts Wesleyan University GCEC, 2280 Westside Drive, Rochester.
CHURCHVILLE: Moone, Donald R., died July 24, 2026, at age 92. Don was predeceased by his wife, Joyce Moone, and sons, Jeffrey and Stephen Moone. He is survived by his daughter, Karen Moone; grandchildren, Daniel (Stephanie), Matthew, and Victoria Cobb. He worked his entire career at Eastman Kodak Company as a drafter/designer. Don loved his cars, his barn, and his family. He was an excellent driver and a lot of fun. He took the family on countless cross-country and yearly camping trips. He considered himself lucky to retire early. He and Joyce had over 20 years of traveling the world and spending winters in Yuma. In his later years, he continued to enjoy his home in Churchville with his grandchildren, who loved to spend time with him.
Per Don’s wishes, there will be no service, just a private graveside family gathering. Interment in Creekside Cemetery, Churchville. CLARKSON: Ophardt, Leora J., died July 21, 2026, at age 96. She was predeceased by her husband, Vernon F. Ophardt; daughter-in-law, Natalie Ophardt; and parents, Elmer and Dora Lemcke. She is survived by her children, Connie (Michael) Adams, Mary (Thomas) Phillips, and Timothy Ophardt; grandchildren, Timothy Jr. and Michael Ophardt, Hilary and Matthew (Sarah) Adams, and Abigail Phillips; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Leora and her husband owned and operated an egg farm for many years, and Leora played an essential role in its daily operations. She found joy in baking for family and friends and had a special talent for refurbishing furniture, giving new life to treasured pieces through her creativity and craftsmanship. Leora was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church.

GREECE: Lage, Carol L., died July 24, 2026, at age 70. She was predeceased by her husband, Mark Lage. She is survived by her daughters, Amanda (Bryan) Redick and Carrie (Arie) Bouwens; grandchildren, Hunter Kremmin, Jacob Redick, Eric Redick, Tyler Bouwens, and Ryan Bouwens; sisters, Eileen Bilak and Cathy Huff; brother, Bill Bishop; brother-in-law, Douglas (Diane) Lage; sister-in-law, Barbara Sackel; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Carol worked as a supervisor for the United States Post Office. She was a member of the Hilton Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was a creative soul who found joy in making stained glass artwork and handcrafted jewelry. Carol was also a devoted New Orleans Saints fan who faithfully cheered on her favorite team each season. She will be remembered for her creativity, warm heart, and the happiness she brought to those who knew and loved her.
Carol’s Memorial Service was held on July 29 at the Hilton Exempt Club. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. HILTON: Baron, Nancy Anne, died July 26, 2026, at age 75. She is survived by her cousins, Patricia Brown, Barbara Eagan, Elaine (Sheldon) Elias, James Stupp, Heidi Sommer, Kristine (Thomas) Shaw, Neola Ladd, Rita (Jonas) Sipaila, Debbie (Joe) McCaffrey, Richard Maciulis, and John (Linda) Maciulis; and good friend, Dan Miller. Nancy was predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Florence Baron. She dedicated 30 years of service to Eastman Kodak Company, working as a clerk before her retirement. A devout Catholic, she was a faithful member of St. Mark’s Parish. She found great happiness behind the camera, capturing life’s special moments through photography, and took pride in tending her flower garden. Among her greatest companions was her beloved long-haired Dachshund, Ollie, who brought her endless love and companionship.
