Build Your Own Miniature Truck

Visitors to the New York Museum of Transportation can build their own one-of-a-kind miniature truck on Sunday, August 16, 2026. The replica honors the 100th birthday of the museum’s 1926 International Stake body truck, and it’s large enough to allow a popular mini-figure to ride in the cab.  Also, members of the local LEGO Users Group will be exhibiting their creations.

Kits of familiar snap-together pieces will be provided, complete with easy, step-by-step instructions. Professional assistance will be on hand. This collectible kit is exclusive to the museum and is not available anywhere else.

Build sessions are offered at noon and 2 p.m. and are limited to 10 participants each.  Open to ages 8 and older; youths younger than 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Reservations are required at http://nymtmuseum.org/build_truck.php.

The price, including the trolley kit, participant’s museum admission, and a trolley ride, is $25. Regular admission prices apply for family members or friends who accompany the participants: $12 for adults, $10 for seniors 65+, and $6 for youths aged 3-12.

The New York Museum of Transportation is open Sundays only, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., from late May through October and again at Christmas holiday time. Located at 6393 East River Road in Rush, the museum features exhibits of trolley cars, a steam locomotive, a large model railroad, and the Midtown Plaza Monorail. Two-mile round-trip trolley rides are included with admission.
