Jacobs Road Bridge Replacement Underway

Replacement work has begun on the Jacobs Road bridge over Yanty Creek (approx. 0.6 miles east of Redman Road) in Hamlin. The bridge has been closed to vehicular traffic since May 2025 and will remain closed to all traffic while Rochester Earth, Inc., a contractor for Monroe County DOT, replaces it.

Local traffic will continue to be maintained to all driveways up to the bridge; however, the bridge itself will not be passable. Through traffic will continue to follow the signed detour via Redman Road, Moscow Road, and Priem Road.

The project will involve removing the existing bridge superstructure and substructure before installing a new three-sided precast concrete structure. The bridge and adjacent roadway will be widened to accommodate 11-foot travel lanes and 6-foot shoulders in both directions. Additional improvements will include installing new bridge railing and approach guide railing, as well as armoring the stream channel. Lastly, pavement markings will be replaced prior to reopening the bridge to traffic.

Barring unforeseen delays, the project is expected to be completed in November 2026.
