VFW Post 4658 will host a Stop 22 Walkathon in support of veterans on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at American Legion Post 468, 344 Dorsey Road, Greece. Registration begins at 1:30 p.m., and the 22-minute walk will start at 2:22 p.m.
The event is being held to raise awareness of veteran suicide, a crisis that claims the lives of an estimated 22 veterans each day. Organizers hope the walk will bring attention to the issue while supporting programs that assist veterans in need.
A $1 registration fee will be collected, with all proceeds benefiting the Commander’s Homeless Veterans Special Project to assist with suicide prevention awareness efforts.
In addition to the walk, a 50/50 raffle and basket raffle will be held. Proceeds from those fundraisers will be shared between VFW Post 4658 and the Veterans Outreach Center in Rochester to help provide support and resources for veterans in crisis.
Community members are invited to participate in the event and show their support for veterans and suicide prevention awareness initiatives.
