The Brockport Symphony Orchestra will present its Fall Celebration Concert, “All That Jazz!” at 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 25, at the First Presbyterian Church of Brockport, 35 State Street. Directed by Jonathan Allentoff, this gala program will feature vocal artist Michael DeLuca, violin soloist Eloise Fadial, bass clarinet soloist Rachel Roessel, composer-in-residence and pianist Emmanuel Sikora, and guest composer and percussionist Ira Fair.
The orchestra will celebrate jazz legends and Broadway and Hollywood favorites, perform three world premieres composed for the ensemble by Sikora and Fair, including the “Brockport Rag,” “Sunny Days Ahead,” and “Tender as She Goes,” and honor the memory of Dr. Bill and Sue Hullfish with a special tribute. The Washington Post describes Sikora’s music as “an appealing melding of the romantic and the contemporary, unselfconscious and unpretentious.”
Admission is free, and donations will be gratefully accepted. This program is made possible with support from the Village of Brockport and the Genesee Valley Council on the Arts. For additional information, please visit www.brockportsymphony.org.
