Apple Fest Organizers Warn Attendees of Raffle Scam

After this year’s Hilton Apple Fest, organizers received many reports of a Disney World trip raffle held at one of the commercial vendor booths.
This raffle collected information from attendees, who were contacted via phone after the festival. The caller told entrants they had not won the grand prize but offered a different resort package at a steep discount, as long as they made a down payment by credit card over the phone.
Online research has led festival organizers to determine that this raffle is a scam. “If called, you may be offered a discounted travel experience. Please use your judgment. Winning a free trip is not the same as getting a trip for what someone deems as a discount,” the Apple Fest posted on Facebook.
Organizers say the raffle was not associated with Apple Fest in any way, and they are working to determine who brought it to the festival and ensure it does not happen in the future.
