Inaugural Harvest Festival comes to Hamlin Oct. 10

The Hamlin Harvest Festival will surely become a favorite fall tradition and the Hamlin Fire Department plans a fun-filled start to the season with the 1st annual Hamlin Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 10 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Hamlin Fire Department and Hamlin Wheel Fest Committee have joined in creating a new one day festival for the Town of Hamlin called “Hamlin Harvest Festival” to celebrate the farming community of Hamlin with pumpkins, leaves, apples, bales of hay and crops that are grown by this great community.

Organizers expect many visitors to the  Harvest Festival and enjoy lively entertainment, farmers market, delicious food, browsing artists, crafters, car cruise-in, fire prevention programs, with games and activities in the children’s area.

The Harvest Festival will give people an opportunity to relax, have one-on-one conversations with local farmers, and take the time to learn more about the farming community,” says Michael Gross, Harvest Festival Chairman. “We are happy to give everyone the chance to catch up with their closest friends and neighbors, also enjoy all the activities that the festival brings.”

The list of events and times are as follows:
•Art-Craft show and sale, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
•Food Court and Rochester Food Trucks, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
•Farmers Market, 10 a.m.
•Fire Prevention Program, 11 a.m.
•Tops Markets Pharmacy Flu Clinic, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
•Kids Corner, 10 a.m.
•Car Cruise-in, noon to 4 p.m.
•Beer tent, noon to 8 p.m. – Music by Old Hippies, 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. and Karma Rock, 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Food options will cater to a variety of tastes. The food court with food trucks and local vendors will satisfy cravings for hot dogs, firehouse plates, chili and sweet corn. Several Rochester Food Trucks serve their signature foods, from Neno’s Gourmet Mexican, Slogies BBQ, Chef’s Catering, Brick-n-Motor, The Red Osier to J&S Fried Dough.

Local Hamlin farmers will sell fresh seasonal produce in Farmers Market along with informational booths from Grow Monroe, Cornell Cooperative Extension and Farm Bureau.

The children’s area “Kid’s Corner” will be staffed by Main Event Amusements from Solvay, New York with bounce houses to keep the children entertained.

The festival is not just for kids. Visitors can find a variety of art, information, gift, business and organizational booths.

The Harvest Festival is made possible by the generous support of sponsors who will setup booths and displays. This year’s sponsors include gold sponsors: Tops Markets, Doan Family of Dealerships, Westside News and local Hamlin Farmers. Silver sponsors: Barry’s Auto & RV Center and SUNY Brockport’s 89.1 The Point.
