Jane Henion Avery of Brockport and Keith Avery of Tioga, Pennsylvania happily announce the engagement of their son Sam Avery to Julie Ficarra, daughter of Anthony and Carole Ficarra of Camillus, New York.
Sam and Julie are both graduates of the University at Buffalo where they met in 2007. Sam holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from University of Buffalo, and is an Assistant Professor in the Communications Studies Department at SUNY Cortland where he teaches video production. Julie holds a Master’s degree in International Education Policy from Harvard University and is a Ph.D. student in the Cultural Foundations of Education Department at Syracuse University.
The couple became engaged on the Amalfi Coast during a three-week trip to Italy in May 2015. An August 2016 wedding is planned.
