Carrie McKain’s BOCES 6:1:1 students at Brockport Hill Elementary School dedicated their time to helping others by ringing bells for the Salvation Army.
The students exchanged smiles with shoppers as they held the door for those entering and leaving J.C. Penney on December 8. They also handed out candy canes as a way to thank those who donated.
Prior to the event, the students learned about traditions, including the tradition of giving. The class enjoyed the volunteer experience and simultaneously gained community skills that cannot be taught just in the classroom.
