Thomas is predeceased by his wife Rita Fortunato and his son Anthony Fortunato. He is survived by his son Thomas (Jeannie) Fortunato; daughters Susan (John) Saladyga & Barbara (Larry Danehy) Fortunato; grandchildren, Lisa-Nicole (Philip) Sarnowski, Shane Danehy, Janelle (Fiance Dan Wakefield) Danehy & Justin (Stephanie) Danehy; Stephanie (Barry) Atlas, Thomas Fortunato, Nicholas Saladyga & great grand-daughter Sienna Danehy & great grand-son Liam Danehy; sister Elizabeth Massoni.
Thomas dedicated his life to his family and friends. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 – 1952. He worked for the N.Y. City Sanitation Police from 1956-1979. The family will receive friends on Thursday March 3, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9 at Joseph W. Sorce F.H. Inc. 728 West Nyack Rd. West Nyack, NY (845) 358-4433. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday March 4, 2016 at 10 AM at St Catherine’s Church, Western Highway, Blauvelt, NY. Interment Rockland Cemetery, Sparkill, NY.
