Registration open for eleventh annual Daniel’s Race
Online registration is now open for the 11th annual Daniel’s Race. The 5K run/walk will take place at Churchville-Chili Middle School on Saturday, April 9.
Participants can register or donate by clicking the Register link on www.daniels5k.com. The non-refundable registration fee costs $25 and the first 100 to register will receive a free Daniel’s Race t-shirt.
High school sports teams and other groups can also register for $100 total and are encouraged to seek additional pledges/donations.
Teams and groups can also participate in the first ever t-shirt contest this year. Ask student athletes, coworkers or group members to design their own t-shirts and wear them proudly on race day. Shirts must contain the team name and the words “Daniel’s Race.” Prizes will go to the team with the most creative shirt and the team that raises the most money.
Sponsorship information is also available on the web site. Sponsors will see their logo on the race day shirt, flags and/or PowerPoint presentation depending on the donation amount.
Race day registration begins in the middle school cafeteria at 8:30 a.m. and the race begins at 9:30 a.m.
The race honors the memory of Daniel Myslivecek, who lost his two-plus year battle with Stage IV Metastatic Melanoma. The community united as Daniel ran the first 5K in March 2006 and again when he passed away that June. Daniel’s dream was to serve others and his legacy has raised melanoma awareness.
Each year, race proceeds go to an organization that helps children with life-threatening illnesses while raising melanoma awareness. This marks the final year of a three-year, $25,000 pledge to sponsor an alcove where doctors/nurses interact with families of patients in the new Golisano Children’s Hospital.
