Genesee County 4-Her competes in National Dairy judging contest
Congratulations to local Genesee County 4-H member Mary Sweeney who participated in the National Youth Dairy Judging Contest as a member of the New York State 4-H Dairy Judging Team. The New York State 4-H Team placed second overall in the contest, which was held on November 6 at the North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, Kentucky.
Twenty 4-H and FFA youth judging teams from across the United States competed in the judging contest. Contest participants judged and placed ten classes of registered dairy cattle according to breed standards.
New York State 4-H Team members included Peyton Darling, Mary Sweeney, Bryce Windecker and Bob Nagel with coach Kevin Ziemba. Team members qualified to participate in the contest by placing in the 4-H Dairy Judging Contest at the 2016 New York State Fair.
Mary Sweeney is an active member of the Genesee County 4-H Dairy Club. She also won third place High Individual Overall in the contest.
