Spencerport adopts budget proposal under tax levy limit
During its meeting on April 18, the Spencerport School Board of Education adopted a 2017-18 budget proposal, which totals $79 million and projects a 1.49 percent tax rate increase.
The expenditure plan, which will be presented to voters on Tuesday, May 16, includes a:
•projected tax rate* of $24.45 per $1,000 of assessed home value. *The Board of Education sets the actual tax rate during the summer.
•tax levy of $36.3 million, an increase of 1.98 percent, which is less than the 2.05 percent maximum allowable tax levy with exclusions.
Four candidates are running for three open seats on the Board of Education. The three-year terms will begin on July 1, 2017, and end on June 30, 2020. The candidates are listed as they will appear on the ballot: David Gibbardo, Jody Gillette, Randal Weaver and Katherine Czarnecki.
The community budget vote will be held from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16. More budget details may be found at www.spencerportschools.org.
