Wright, Regan double-doubles pace Eagles

Senior captain Lyndsay Wright and junior captain Jenna Regan each recorded a double-double to lead Kendall to a 49-37 victory over Rochester Prep in girl’s basketball.

An early Eagles lead was erased by a 16-4 run by the Tigers, but Kendall ended the first half increased defensive pressure which turned into four straight field goals on a put-back from Regan, and bank-shot by Taylor ReQua and jumper from Kaitlyn Gregory and Wright scoring on an inbounds play to retake the lead.

The Eagles had their highest scoring quarter of the season in the third with 18 points as ReQua scored while Wright and Regan added four points each.

Rochester re used a 9-0 run in the fourth to close to within eight in the waning minutes, but Regan and ReQua hit consecutive lay-ups to end the threat.

“It was an important win,” Kendall head coach Jeff Parizek said. “We stepped up the defensive pressure after the first quarter and it worked for us.”

Wright hauled down 16 rebounds to go with her 12 points while Regan scored 12 points with ten rebounds. ReQua led all scorers with 13 points with five steals and seven boards with sophomore Brittney Marks had nine steals.

The Eagles won their fifth game of the season and hope to earn a home Section V playoff game after their six remaining regular season games.
