Fishing Derby for Youth

On Saturday, June 16 the Kiwanis Club of Greece, with the support of PAL and Boy Scout Troop 197, will hold its 25th annual Fishing Derby for Youth with special needs. The event is free and includes fishing and a pizza picnic.  All participants will receive a T-shirt, a medal and a certificate from public officials. It will run from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Latta Road Nursing Home, 2100 Latta Road.  The Kiwanis Club members will provide fishing gear and guides. All are welcome.

To sign up a youth, registration forms for the Derby are available by calling Angie at 865-9742 or on line at www.kiwanisgreece.org  If you would be interested in being a fishing guide, call either of the event’s chairmen, Ed at 491-6986 or Bob at 663-1842. Fishing will be limited to the first 35 registered youths. There will be enough volunteers so that each participant will be supervised individually or in a small group.  Monroe Ambulance will be on site.

Schedule of events:

10 to 10:30 a.m. – Drop off/pair participants with volunteers

10:30 to 11:30 a.m. – Fishing

11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Lunch and Awards.

In case of inclement weather call 491-6986 after 8 a.m. to see if the event is cancelled.  If necessary, the rain date will be June 23.
