Simone Biles named November Hickok Belt® Award winner

Professional gymnast Simone Biles has been named the Hickok Belt® Award winner for the month of November 2018. Voting was conducted by a select panel of members of the National Sports Media Association (NSMA). The voters selected Biles for her historic performance at the 2018 World Championships in Doha, Qatar. She beat Japan’s Mai Murakami and American teammate Morgan Hard by nearly 1.7 points to become the first woman to win her fourth all-around gold in World Championship history. Biles set a new record for most world all-around titles and surpassed the long- standing record of three titles held by Russian gymnast Svetlana Khorkina.

Other finalists for the month of November in order of how the NSMA ranked them included: Giannis Antetokounmpo (basketball), Jarad Goff (football), Kevin Durant (basketball), Ezekiel Elliott (football), Michael Thomas (football), Pekka Rinne (hockey), Blake Wheeler (hockey), Mary Kim (boxing), Accelerate, with jockey John Sadler (horse racing).

Her selection as the Hickok Belt® Award winner for the month of November recognizes Simone Biles as “the best of the best” in professional sports for the month and makes her the eighth candidate eligible to receive the overall Hickok Belt® for 2018, joining Steve Pearce, Christian Yelich, Brooks Koepka, Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Nick Foles and Matt Carpenter.
