OBITUARIES – WEEK OF MARCH 31, 2013

AREA

•Kaminski III, Frank, of Mesa, Arizona on March 15, 2013 at age 33. Born on October 5, 1979 to Mary Carol Kaminski and the late Frank Kaminski II in Rochester. Frank was married to Candee Kaminski in Mesa, Arizona in 2008. He attended Churchville-Chili Senior High School and graduated from Arizona State University in 2009 where he studied Economics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, and Religious Studies. He is survived by his three children Lorenzo Chavez, Iris Eldorn Kaminski and Juniper Ann Kaminski; as well as his wife, Candee; his mother Mary Carol; and his sister Marya. He was preceded in death by his father and his brother Adam.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated March 25 at St. Vincent DePaul Church, Churchville. Interment, St. Vincent DePaul Cemetery. Donations to benefit Frank’s children can be made to the Kaminski Kids Memorial Fund at any Wells Fargo or on Paypal to kaminskikidsfund@gamail.com.

 

•Montgomery, Henry Giles, 77, of Waynesboro, Virginia, died March 20, 2013. He was born August 13, 1935 in Beckley, West Virginia, a son of Fred and Essa Sheridan Montgomery. An Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a life member of the VFW and American Legion in New York and of the Combat Infantry Association. In Waynesboro he was an active member of the Moose Lodge. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Montgomery, his two brothers and sister. Surviving are two daughters, Denise Stevenson and Hazel Montgomery; three sons, Robert, Jimmie, and Shawn Montgomery; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service was held March 27 at the Waynesboro Moose Lodge with military honors by the Stuarts Draft VFW Post 9339. BERGEN

•Lagas, M. Paul, March 21, 2013, age 76. Survived by his wife of 52 years, Karen; children, William (Pam), John (Kara), Debra Eggebrecht; grandchildren, Josh, Cory and John Lagas, Garrett and Morgan Eggebrecht; brother, Joseph Lagas and several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass was said March 25 at St. Christopher’s Church, North Chili. Entombment, White Haven Memorial Park. Contributions can be made to the Wounded Warriors or Bergen Fire Department in his memory.

 

CHILI

•Grachus, Teresa J., March 24, 2013 at age 85. Predeceased by her husband, Joseph; sons, Ronald and Paul; daughter, Doreen. She is survived by her sons, Robert (Anne), James (Catherine); daughter and caregiver, Elizabeth; daughters-in-law, Susan Dasson and Christine Grachus; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Services were held privately.

 

•Meier, Charlotte, March 25, 2013, age 85. Predeceased by her husband, Roderick C. Meier. Charlotte will be greatly missed by her loving family, Roderick S. (Barbara) of Great Falls, Montana, Jeffrey C. of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Elizabeth (Keith) Eng of Rochester; grandchildren, Carolyn Meier of Washoe Valley, Nevada and Nicholas Eng of Quincy, Massachusetts; several nieces, nephews and extended family. Charlotte was the organist of the First Baptist Church in Chili from 1960-1980 and was a medical assistant with the Olsan Medical Group for many years.

CHURCHVILLE

•Stolte, Catherine (Lay), March 19, 2013, age 62. Predeceased by her parents, Harry and Doris Lay and sister, Linda Foti. Survived by her loving companion, Mike Nesbitt; daughters, Jaima Figueroa and Kim (Tom) Peterson; son, Joshua Stolte; grandchildren, Niko, Nailina, Nathaniel Natalie, Rebecca and Thomas; sister, Sandra (Rich) Mastin; brothers, Brian, Ron and Steve (Anne Marie) Lay; nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated March 26 at St.Kateri at St. Cecilia’s Church. Interment, Irondequoit Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the American Lung Association in her memory.

 

HAMLIN

•Miller, Kenneth M., age 89, died March 23, 2013, at The Villages of Orleans in Albion. Ken served in the US Army during WWII. When he returned from the war he served as a Monroe County Sheriff’s Department Deputy, was the first Park Ranger at Hamlin Beach State Park, and worked as a Supervisor at Owens-Illinois before retiring in 1981. He received the DeWitt Clinton Masonic Award for Community Service from the Kendall Masons. He was a charter member and past president (1986-1987) of the Kendall Lions Club. The Lions named him citizen of the year in 1988 and in 1993 he received the Melvin Jones Fellow award for humanitarian service. He was a charter member and past commander of the Hamlin VFW; member of the Military Order of the Cooties; founder and director of the Hamlin VFW Volunteer Ambulance Corps; past president of the Morton Fire District; and in 2003 he was recognized by the Hamlin Heritage Committee with the Hamlin Heritage Award. Predeceased by his loving wife, Virginia (Bancroft); daughters, Lynda Negelty and Melody Lape; grandson Brett Doran; brothers, Gordon and Robert Miller and sister, Joyce Lemcke. Survived by his son, Douglas (Susan); sons-in-law, Craig Lape and Bob Negelty; very special and devoted friend, Billie Wilson; grandchildren, Jon (Kim) Doran, Jeffrey (Patti) Doran, Matthew (Frances) Doran, Christopher (Barbie Morgan) Doran, Bradley (Kelly) Lape, Bryan Lape and Catherine (Joshua) Keaton; sister, Joanne Klafehn; brothers and sisters-in-law George (Dorothy) Bancroft, Evelyn (Carl) Taylor, Dorothy (Harry) Butler, Mercedes Patt, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service was held on March 27 at Concordia Lutheran Church, Kendall. Burial with full military honors will be held at the convenience of the family at Lakeside Cemetery, Hamlin. Donations can be made to Hospice of Orleans or to the group of local citizens who are committed to maintaining county ownership of The Villages Nursing Home – The Concerned Citizens of Orleans County, c/o Christine Loss, P. HILTON

•Oliver, Richard P., On March 17, 2013. He is predeceased by his wife, Leona. Survived by his children, Richard D. Wayne (Tammy) Oliver, John William (Kim) Oliver and Shirley Granger; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sisters, Geri Steward and Mary Chahovich; nieces and nephews.

His Memorial Service was held March 25 at the Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home Inc., Hilton. Private interment, Riverside Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the Veteran’s Outreach Center in his memory.

•Millard, Carolyn M., On March 25, 2013, age 72. Predeceased by her husband, Richard Millard Sr. She is survived by her children, Richard Millard Jr., Barbara Barthel (Edward Slowinski), Wendy Lang, Brian Millard, grandchildren, Angela Barthel (Chuck Kelly) Jessica (Jason) Scozzafava, Heather Kuepper (Doug Rich), Deserae Lang (Kevin Hess), Andrew Lang, Connor Millard; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Clair (Joyce) Mattison, Ernest (Susan) Mattison, Dale (Paula) Mattison, Ted (Cheryl) Mattison; sisters, Mary Donna Sanderson, Gloria (Dale) Foster, Velma Graczyk, Jane (Bruce) Cook, Lynda Snow, Anita (Gordon) Kile; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

A Memorial Service was held March 30 at Hamlin United Methodist Church, Hamlin. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in her memory.

 

SPENCERPORT

•Ammering, James T. (Ambrose), died suddenly March 24, 2013. He is survived by his brothers, Daniel and Michael Ammering; sisters, Kathy (Jerry) Hugelmaier, Sue (Tony) Uttaro; several nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.

Services and interment were held privately, in keeping with Jimmy’s wishes.

Friends are invited to gather on Friday, April 5, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Snuggery’s Tavern, Spencerport, to share memories of Ambrose.

 

•Crooks, Thomas L., Tuesday, March 26, 2013, age 84. Predeceased by his wife, Edith M. Crookes and son, Thomas A. He is survived by his daughter, Catherine (John Wadsworth) Loiacono; daughter-in-law, Lynn Crookes; grandchildren, Sarah (Harish) Nataraj, Kristen Crookes, Colleen (Travis) Beagley, Kelly (Danny) Ricker; four great-grandchildren.

•Flanagan, Stephen M., March 21, 2013. Predeceased by his wife, Dorothy and grandson, R.J. Survived by his children, James (Kimberly) Flanagan, Sherry (Robert) Smedley, Gary (Kelli) Williams and Richard (Kimberly) Williams; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Kurt (Lynn) Flanagan; sister, Maureen Hare; girlfriend, Terry Hinn; several nieces and nephews.

Stephen’s wishes were to have no calling hours but to celebrate his life by toasting a drink in his honor.
