•New question is How long and steep is the descent?
•When to Re-open? We all agree we need to get back to work.
•How, When and How Fast? We need to use this time to learn the lesson and reimagine how we want society to be. Stop saying re-open and say re-imagine. And re-imagine a better everything using a multi-state regional coalition plan, and a re-imagine New York Task Force. In the meantime – Do No Harm and increase testing.
•Activity will increase with warmer weather. When activity increases we need to watch the dial. We know the infection rate increases with contact. We have a thin margin of error to control infection. Coordination and discipline is key.
•Testing requires all levels of government to work together.
•National Governors Association is renewing a bipartisian call for $500 billion is aid to states. Without Federal aid there will be a 20% cut to Schools, Local Governments and Hospitals.
•Also propsed is Federal Hazard Pay for frontline workers. The frontline workers are our heroes. 41% are people of color, 2/3 of frontline workers across the country are women and 1/3 are from low income households.
•Calling on Federal Government to increase hazard pay for essential public workers and a 50% bonus.
•NYS will be delivering more than 500,000 cloth masks and 100,000 gallons of hand sanitizer to public housing communities.
•New York is Tough, Smart, Disciplined, Unified and Loving.
