Lakeview Community Church, 30 Long Pond Road, near Edgemere Drive, supports the Greece Ecumenical Food Shelf (GEFS) every month. Also, each year this church has an “August Challenge.” For example, in 2019 the August Challenge goal was to collect 1,500 cans of peaches and 1,845 were donated. With the COVID-19 challenges facing everyone in 2020, Lakeview Church is asking for monetary donations instead of just one item. This will relieve contributors of shopping and handling food items. GEFS typically provides for 400 clients but this year it has been almost 700 in the Greece and Charlotte areas. The GEFS shelves are quite empty.
To donate, make checks payable to Lakeview Community Church, 30 Long Pond Road, Rochester, NY 14612 with “GEFS” on the memo line. Volunteers will also be at the church on Saturday, August 29, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to accept monetary donations. The challenge goal for Lakeview Church this August is $2,000.
