Remembering a Churchville-Chili music department legend

The Churchville-Chili school community is mourning the loss of beloved former teacher Ron Cicero, who died on April 10 at the age of 78. Cicero was a Churchville-Chili Music Education teacher for 30 years and influenced hundreds of students during his time with the district.

Chestnut Ridge Elementary music teacher Terry Bacon is thankful for Cicero’s dedication to the Churchville-Chili music program as well as the impact he had individually. “I am grateful for his personal support and encouragement as a student in his high school bands. I also appreciate his generosity as an Eastman School of Music student in getting podium and lesson teaching time during vacation weeks, hiring me to teach summer lessons, and finally hiring me as a music sub upon graduation,” said Bacon.

Cicero played a significant role in growing the district’s music program. He made a lasting impact on the district, students, and community that is still being felt to this day as the Churchville-Chili Music Boosters award an annual scholarship in his name to a graduating senior that is going on into the field of music.
