Local Lions Club member receives international recognition

Jim Schiebel is a member of the Hilton Lions Club and an associate member of the Rochester Downtown Host Lions Club. He has been a Lions Club member for 53 years, serving the community and also developing a free Lions museum in Hamlin. Jim and his wife, Donna, have enjoyed the fellowship of collecting and trading Lions pins and banners and frequently attend events to trade Lions Club paraphernalia.

Lions International Trading Pin Club (LITPC) is an international organization that promotes Lions fellowship and supports the international program. At the LITPC annual meeting held this month in Kentucky, Jim was presented with a “Lion of Commitment” plaque for his donation of $3,000 to the Lions Foundation. The award was presented by the Executive Administrator of Lions Clubs International, Past International President Frank Moore. The Lions Foundation works in the areas of disaster relief, diabetes, hunger, and childhood cancer, among other areas.

Lion Jim was later presented with a “Lifetime Achievement” plaque by organization President Kent Clovis from Oklahoma. It was only the fourth time this award has been given in the organization’s 48-year international history.
