Sweden receives grant to build Senior Room at Community Center
The Town of Sweden has received a $500,000 award from the NYS Housing Trust Fund Corporation and the Office of Community Renewal to construct a senior program room at the Sweden/Clarkson Community Center, 4927 Lake Road. The room will be used solely for senior programming and includes accessibility features and pandemic mitigation features.
Councilperson Patty Hayles is the Town Board liaison to the Community Center and works with the staff to ensure that it has adequate facilities and resources to provide programming for all segments of the population. “We are pleased to secure funding that will allow our senior programming to take place in a healthier physical environment,” Hayles said.
The new room will feature improved ventilation, room for social distancing, a handwashing station, and separate restrooms for senior use. Construction will take place in the summer of 2022.
