Change in ownership coming at Lift Bridge Book Shop

In their April newsletter to subscribers, Lift Bridge Book Shop owners Archie and Pat Kutz announced changes were coming to the independent bookseller located in the heart of Brockport’s downtown business district.

“Lift Bridge will have new owners soon!” the announcement read. “Two local boys and former employees have grown up and bought the bookstore! John Bonczyk and Cody Steffen are taking over from Pat and Archie. We are looking forward to a gradual process starting May 1 when John comes on board, followed by Cody July 1,” the newsletter announcement stated.

“Pat and Archie will continue as consultants until they kick us out. We are all thrilled that Lift Bridge can continue for the next generation. We hope you will show your enthusiasm and support for Cody and John by shopping in the store frequently and thus ensuring that we can continue to be a vital part of Brockport’s retail landscape.”

Suburban News and Hamlin-Clarkson Herald contributing writer Doug Hickerson will have more details for readers in an upcoming issue.

Hickerson previously wrote about the village business in a feature article printed October 25, 2009 – “Lift Bridge Book Shop: The book store that grew to a whole lot more.”
